1) Scientist Fellow Range-1:Rs.31000/32550/34100/35650/37200
Qualifications : Ph.D. in Science or Engineering (or) M.Tech. / ME (Engineering)
Desirable : Postdoctoral research experience and quality publications in journals of international repute
Age : Below 40 years as on the last date prescribed. (Desirable below 30 years)
Emoluments : Fixed/consolidated at any stage in Range-1 with 5% annual increase in the emoluments, if otherwise eligible
2). Scientist Fellow Range-2:Rs.36000/37800/39600/41400/43200
Qualifications : Ph.D. in Science or Engineering (or) M.Tech. / ME (Engineering) with three years research experience
Age : Below 40 years as on the prescribed last date. (Desirable below 35 years)
Emoluments : Fixed/consolidated at any stage in Range-2 with 5% annual increase in emoluments, if otherwise eligible.
Tenure of the appointments is initially for one year extendable by two more years and further regular career avenues shall be considered depending upon merit and performance as per rules and procedures.
Selection Procedure
The candidates will be required to make a formal presentation on their work and future plans at an Institute colloquium. This will be followed by an interview by a duly constituted Selection Committee.
Other benefits
Candidates selected for Scientist (FELLOW) positions shall be paid (i) House Rent Allowance on the basis of the emoluments fixed, if official accommodation is not provided (ii) Medical facilities/benefits as made applicable to CSIR-NGRI Scientists will be extended (iii) will be entitled for 30 days (15+15) leave as prescribed under CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972 and orders thereon from time to time.

National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), a constituent Laboratory of CSIR, was established in 1961 with the mission to carry out research in multidisciplinary areas of Earth Sciences. The Institute plays a pivotal role in the exploration of Hydrocarbons, Mineral and Groundwater resources in addition to studies in Engineering Geophysics, Seismology, Geo-dynamics and Geo-environment. The Institute has a staff strength of 550 that includes about 150 highly qualified scientists doing extensive research in Earth Sciences assisted by an equal number of highly skilled technical staff for data acquisition, data processing and field investigations.
