Border Security Force (BSF) METHOD OF SELECTIO:
The selection shall be held in two phases as under: -
(A) FIRST PHASE
(i) Preliminary screening-
(ii) Physical Efficiency Test (i) 1.6 Km race in 6 ½ minutes
(ii) Long Jump (3.65 mtrs) in three chances
(iii) High Jump (1.2 mtrs) in three chances.
(Ex-service men and departmental candidates
are exempted from physical efficiency test).
(iii) Written Examination
The written examination of 2 ½ Hrs duration will be conducted at the selection centers on the
date and time fixed by HQ DG BSF.Written examination will consist of the following four parts: -

Physics
60 Marks
syllabus:10+2 / Intermediate of CBSC/ State
Boards of education
Part II
Mathematics
60 Marks
syllabus:10+2 / Intermediate of CBSC/ State
Boards of education
Part III
Chemistry
30 Marks
syllabus:10+2 / Intermediate of CBSC/ State
Boards of education
Part IV
English & G K
50 Marks
Current affairs, History, Geography and
General Science
There will be one OMR based composite paper consisting of above four parts and will be “OBJECTIVE TYPE WITH MULTIPLE CHOICE”. Question paper will be printed both in English and Hindi for each categories (ASI/RM, HC/RO and HC/FITTER).
(B) SECOND PHASE
(i) Dictation test (in English) – 10 Marks – (For HC/RO) only)
(ii) Verification of original documents -
(iii) Personal Interview – 25 Marks
(iv) Final Medical Examination by
BSF Medical Officer Candidates who qualify all the above tests will be put through a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness.
(C) Provision of Re-medical: -
Candidates declared un-fit in final medical examination by the Medical Officer of the board can apply for re-medical examination to DIG (Comn & IT), HQ DG BSF New Delhi within one month from the date of issue of communication by the presiding officer of the board alongwith bank draft/ IPO of Rs. 50/- (for Gen/OBCcandidates only) in the name of DDO,FHQ BSF EW DELHI payable at New Delhi. Proof of his fitness on prescribed performa given by the recruitment board should be enclosed with application.
Note 1 :- Physical efficiency test (PET) is a qualifying test. a candidate must qualify in all the PET
events serially as mentioned. Candidates who qualify the 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes will only be
allowed to appear for the long jump and so on. Candidate who fails in any event will be rejected at
that stage only and will not be allowed to appear in the remaining events. Candidate who qualifies
the physical test, written test, documentation and personal interview will be finally medically
examined by the BSF medical officer. The final selection would be made on the basis of overall
merit based on marks obtained in written test, dictation test (For HC/RO only) and interview.
Note 2 :- Qualifying the tests does not amount to final selection which will be made on the basis of
consolidated merit list of all recruitment centres as per the number of vacancies in respective quota.
Note 3 :- Admission in recruitment examination will be purely on production of original call letter /
admit card dispatched to the eligible candidate by the concerned centers.
